Clo Willaerts

clo_willaertsShe was once called “Number one geek girl in Belgium, and proud to be” and after almost 12 years as an internet professional still lives up to it. Trained as a linguist, a journalist and a language teacher, she quickly became involved in every little internet revolution as soon as it materialised. Amongst her projects are: a web radio station, a lively online community, a business community, a moblog hosting service, a long range of consultancy projects for the major brands in Belgium. Clo Willaerts is currently Marketing Manager IBU at Sanoma Magazines Belgium and organiser of the Brussels Girl Geek Dinners.

Dries Buytaert

dries buytaertDries Buytaert is the original creator and project lead for the Drupal open source web publishing and collaboration platform. Buytaert serves as president of the Drupal Association, a non-profit organization formed to help Drupal flourish. He is also co-founder and chief technology officer of Acquia, a venture-backed software company that offers products and services for Drupal. Dries is also a co-founder of Mollom, a web service that helps you identify content quality and, more importantly, helps you stop website spam.
A native of Belgium, Buytaert holds a PhD in computer science and engineering from Ghent University and a Licentiate Computer Science (MsC) from the University of Antwerp. In 2008, Buytaert was elected Young Entrepreneurs of Tech by BusinessWeek as well as MIT TR 35 Young Innovator.

Luc Tayart

Luc Tayart de BormsLuc TAYART, the Managing Director, King Baudouin Foundation, Brussels, was born in 1957, Beerse, Belgium. He holds a Master’s degree in Moral Sciences from the University of Ghent.
A practitioner with more than 20 years experience, he participates in several organisations, including the European Foundation Centre as president (June 2000-June 2002) and vice-president (June 2002-2004), the Council on Foundations, US, as a member of the Board of Directors (2002-2005) and as a member of the International Committee of the Council on Foundations (2002-2006).  He is president of the Network of European Foundations for Innovative Cooperation. Mr Tayart  is also a member of the Advisory Council of the European Policy Centre, former member of the board of the European Cultural Foundation, Trustee at the European Venture Philantropy Association, Treasurer of the King Baudouin Foundation United States and Chairman of Guidestar International.

Robin Wauters

robin wautersRobin Wauters is an entrepreneur, blogger, conference organizer, social media consultant, startup advisor and allround web addict, based in Belgium, Europe.
Robin is an editor of TechCrunch.com, Virtualization.com and T-Zine, one of Belgium’s leading technology blogs. He was also one of the first writers to join blognation, an ambitious effort to centralize reports about Web 2.0 startups from around the world into one blog platform.
He is mostly known for setting up Plugg, a one-day conference in Brussels aimed to raise awareness for European entrepreneurship as well as the continent’s most promising Web / Mobile 2.0 startups.
Robin combines these efforts with startup life, as a Partner in Oxynade and social media consultancy agency Talking Heads.

Bart Becks

bart_becksBart Becks (37) is passionately active in the digital media and technology domain for 25 years. At the age of 13, he started programming on his Commodore-64, which finally led to becoming CEO of Belgacom Skynet and of Skynet iMotion Activities (BelgacomTV). He then became Senior Vice President at SBS Broadcasting, which was sold for 3.3billion Euro to become the ProSiebenSat1 group, based respectively in Amsterdam and Munich. Since 2008, he started, internationalized and guided a series of innovators in Europe and the US.
Bart currently resides mainly in Los Angeles, developing new ventures that are still in stealth mode. He often returns to his beloved Brussels and Limburg, where he sits on the board of 3 startups, a media company,  plus some socio-cultural organizations, often involving music.
Bart studied Commercial engineering in Hasselt, MBA’d in Liège, and studied some stuff in Columbia and Harvard. He still needs to finish his thesis to get his History of classical music degree – but has recently focused on being Chief Entertainment Officer of Charlie, his one-year old son.
