Project name: Road Quality

Road Quality is all about ensuring our flemish roads are as safe as possible in an automated way.
Looking at the concept of the “internet of things”, we worked with the following idea: “1. cars drive on roads, 2. there are lots of cars, 3. all cars together will cover most of our roads on a regular basis”. So given this we figured that we should be making our cars more intelligent.

To this end we developed a monitoring platform that can be placed inside cars and that measures the quality of the road while driving, requiring only a GPS receiver and an accelerometer. The results are then uploaded to a web service that processes and visualises the results.
