What the jury said about Twoddler:
A good, well implemented idea, with a lot of potential. It allows people/children that are not capable of verbal communication to communicate through an inventive combination of hardware and software. It is this potential that we wanted to reward.
Team Members: Elise Huard, Patrick Debois, Wio D’Hespeel, Hendrik Dacquin
What the jury said about Hupskadee!:
A creative and very well designed way to match socially active parents and their network of babysitters. Lots of potential to expand it to an easy to use babysit marketplace.
Team Members: Luk Vanlanduyt, Marieke and a lot of persons who have thought about this first solution
What the jury said about Startcomputer:
A diamond in the rough, and although it might not be suited for everybody, there is de?nitely a target group that wil bene?t greatly from this application.
Team Members: Sébastien Van Bruaene, Boris Rogge
What the jury said about Tableau:
The simple and powerful design is well suited for its purpose, while offering good possibilities for implementing this in other public environments.
Team Members: De Incachix: @lolly_p0p, @tijsverkoyen, @joke @lamazone @rrradiogirrrl @sasvangent @evelinemiljoen
What the jury said about ikkanhet.be:
Brought a smile to the jury’s face, and has lots of potential for extending the functionality. The jury also noted the similarities with 43things but liked the tone of voice and the way it mobilizes people to actively try to better their life and that of others.
Team Members: Frederik Durant (web service layer and voice application development), Nina Durant (photographs and iMovie support)
What the jury said about Realtime:
A practical application shows the clear potential for new applications by voice via any phone using public data and open API’s (that are unfortunately not available yet).
Team Members: Jonas De Smet, Redg Cogghe, Koen Phlips, Filip Standaert, Wouter Vermeylen, Marc Standaert
What the jury said about Ecoplan:
Interesting web mash up that may have missed an opportunity to become a really great life style application by introducing social aspects and feedback mechanisms
Team Members: Tom Nys, Gert Van Nespen
What the jury said about iVisit:
An application that clearly had the needs of the user in mind, rather than adhering to a push-model for cultural information. Needs some more work but has the potential to become a useful companion for culture-addicts.
Team Members: Bregt Colpaert
What the jury said about Gameleon:
The jury was impressed by the maturity of the application, and sees potential for expanding the model in others sectors.
Team Members: Yoni De Beule, Bart De Waele
What the jury said about TVtweets:
Interesting conversation starter for people who happen to be watching the same TV program in different locations. Encourages social interaction on a less-than-social medium.

The first INCA Award call is now closed. Thank you all for your submissions!
The success of the first INCA Award edition proves that Flanders harbors a lot of very talented, creative and innovative people, eager to collaborate and use their knowledge to improve society.
We kept receiving submitted applications up to 2 minutes before the deadline (at midnight) yesterday night. Over 40 applications were submitted and at the moment 35 have been accepted as potential candidates for the INCA Award.
The often collaborative applications we received - provided by citizens for other citizen - offer original and practical solutions to everyday problems such as dealing with traffic and public transport, finding childcare, protecting the environment, enjoying and producing culture or managing social relations.
A full overview is available here.
What will happen now?
Some of the participants have been contacted because we have some additional questions about their applications.
Participants who have sent in an application that requires additional hardware will be asked to provide a completely installed test kit for the jury (so the jury members can test the applications).
Next week the jury will assess the submitted projects based on usefulness, appeal and originality.
The top 10 applications will be presented at the iMinds conference in Ghent on May 12th.
During the closing award ceremony the winners will receive a total prize money of 20.000 Euro.
Patricia Ceysens, Flemish Minister of Economy, Enterprise, Science, Innovation & Foreign Trade will present the first prize.
The iMinds conference is free! You can subscribe here.
